CAN and CAN FD Protocol Products
Complete Solution for Controller Area Network (CAN 2.0) and CAN FD (Flexible Data-Rate)
Bring communication and connectivity in your embedded design to the next level with Microchip's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus solutions technology. Originally created for automotive applications, the CAN protocol is a high-speed, reliable communication protocol for applications requiring robust communication at bit rates reaching 8 Mbps. Incorporating the CAN protocol into your design is a cost-effective communications option which enables a high degree of real-time capability for simple to complex electrical environments.
Microchip offer a complete line of products to meet the needs of high-performance embedded applications using the CAN protocol, including 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers (MCUs), 32-bit microprocessors (MPUs) and Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) with integrated CAN, external CAN controllers and CAN transceivers. With easy-to-use development systems, code examples, drivers and application notes, Microchip provide a total CAN bus solution that enables low-risk product development, lower total system cost and faster time to market for your high-performance, embedded design.
CoaXPress® Technology
CoaXPress® technology is an open and royalty-free asymmetric, high-speed, point-to-point open serial communication standard for high-performance machine vision, industrial inspection and traffic monitoring systems. It provides a state-of-the-art method for connecting high-performance, high-resolution cameras to high-speed capture cards—which are also known as frame grabbers—via standard, off-the-shelf 75Ω coaxial cables. This cost-effective solution enables the transmission of data, video and still images; camera control and triggering; and up to 13W of power of power to be delivered via a single cable of up to 100m in length with a standard BNC, micro BNC or HD-BNC connectors.
The data rates are scalable for multiple cables and only limited by the number of cables that can be accommodated in your design. Although CoaXPress technology is designed to meet future imaging challenges, its scalability works both ways, making it usable in a vast number of other applications. Systems that don’t require the highest performance can be built using less expensive components and still take advantage of some of the benefits that CoaXPress technology offers.
Ethernet Products
Flexible Solutions for Ethernet Networks
Add robust and reliable high-speed communication to your embedded design. Ethernet can be used in many communications, consumer, industrial, automotive and other applications that require network connectivity, including remote monitoring of systems, implementing precision industrial motor control and communicating with Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Whatever your networking challenge is, Microchip's stand-alone devices as well as microcontrollers (MCUs) and microprocessors (MPUs) with Ethernet support make it easy to implement Ethernet in your applications. Microchip also offer timing solutions to clock Microchip's Ethernet products that you can use to achieve higher reliability and lower power consumption in your design and to meet AEC-Q100 requirements in automotive networking applications.
High-Voltage Interface Solutions
High-Voltage (HV) interface devices provide level translation and amplification for connecting low-voltage control circuits to high-voltage driven load circuits. Excellent options for use in MEMS- or piezo-based devices with varying drive requirements, Microchip's rich portfolio of HV devices ranges from simple MOSFETs to complex multi-channel HV driver ICs. Microchip also offer digital interfaces that offer simple digital inputs to more complex protocols, such as SPI and I2C. Microchip's more complex HV IC products enable serial-to-parallel conversion functionality, support voltages up to 300V and offer up to 128 output channels. Look through the products listed below to find the right solution f or your application.
INICnet™ Technology for Automotive Multimedia Networking
Simple and Flexible Solution for Infotainment Systems
INICnet™ technology simplifies automotive infotainment networking with support for Ethernet, audio, video and control over a single cable. INICnet technology can coexist with automotive Ethernet to seamlessly interface Internet Protocol (IP)-based data communications across vehicle domains, while providing efficient transport of audio and video data. INICnet technology does not require development and licensing of additional protocols or software stacks, reducing development costs and keeping development on schedule. INICnet technology supports a variety of system management methodologies via IP, or a dedicated control message channel. Data rates of 50 Mbps on UTP, or 150 Mbps on coax or optical cabling, are supported.
LIN Bus Networking – Transceivers, System Basis Chips (SBC) and System-in-Package (SiP) Solutions
Low-cost Local Interconnect Network (LIN) systems are used throughout the automobile in comfort, powertrain, sensor, and actuator applications. Microchip's modular LIN family ranges from simple transceiver ICs to complex system basis chips with a LIN transceiver, voltage regulator and watchdog. At higher integration levels, Microchip's System-in-Package (SIP) solutions feature an AVR®, PIC® or Arm® Cortex® M0+ based SAM microcontroller (MCU), LIN transceiver, voltage regulator and watchdog in a single package.
Line Circuits
Our Subscriber Line Interface Circuits (SLICs) provide an economical solution for adding voice channels to broadband applications such as residential broadband gateways, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Integrated Access Devices (IADs), cable embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapters (eMTAs), Fiber to the X (FTTX) and Fixed Long Term Evolution (LTE) applications. These SLICs support ringing and system power management, enabling energy-efficient control of telephone lines and meeting the European Code of Conduct (CoC) specifications.
Line Drivers
Line drivers transmit broadband signals over a twisted pair, power lines or coax cable. Because this typically results in a point-to-point connection, a minimum of two drivers are needed, one at each end. Microchip offer Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and Central Office (CO) line drivers for broadband xDSL and G.fast technologies up to 212 MHz and broadband Power Line Communication (PLC) line drivers supporting multiple standards such as G.HN and HPAV 2.0.
